Technological Development of the Enterprise: Critical Thinking and Interpretation of the Author

Stagnation in previous technological achievements and potential, the need to ensure competitiveness of Ukrainian products in conditions of transition to the knowledge economy and expectations of a new technological revolution result to the interest in such a scientific area as management of technological development at the enterprise level. The starting point for this is the understanding of the essence of this concept. In the article it is given critical analysis of the existing interpretations of the term "technological development" and of the concepts related to them (technical, organizational and technical, innovation and technological, scientific and technological) which were widespread in macro and microeconomic studies; there are detected their drawbacks, limitations and controversial provisions. There were also determined essential characteristics of that concept, which enabled the author to give a broad view about its essential characteristics and external manifestations.
