Economic and Ecological Potential of Regional Development Convergence in Ukraine
(original language – Ukrainian)

Authors with the use of modified international approaches and econometric models analyse the processes of ecological and economic convergence among the regions of Ukraine. As a result, it was discovered that there is a regional economic convergence illustrated by the income level dynamics, which is a positive transformation and means a gradual reduction in the disproportion of social and economic development. At the same time, the processes of environmental convergence, also envisaged in theory and identified by methods of economic and mathematical modeling, illustrate a negative aspect of economic growth in the form of increased emissions of harmful substances at especially faster pace in the regions with initially better environmental state. The prospects were also outlined for including indicators of environmental and economic convergence into the elaboration of integrated state programs for regional development.

Key words: ecological and economic convergence, environmental economics, regional development convergence, sustainable development.
